IT management and support are carrying on here at Excellimore even though we’re all working from home now. Your Excellimore team are scattered between Falkirk, Musselburgh, and the Borders and it all seems to be working well so far.
In the past couple of weeks we’ve helped several hundred people to successfully work from home for the first time. After the government’s announcement made the situation very real we’ve been helping everyone settle in for the longer term.
We’re pleased that most people seem to have no more than teething problems and these are usually to do with home internet services, WiFi connections, or printing.
Thank You for Your Patience
We’re also very grateful for everyone’s patience as we prioritise the incoming workload. We had over twice the usual call rate to our Helpdesk team for a few days last week. We’re still very busy but the call rate is dropping back a little now as everyone settles in for the long haul.
A quick scan of my Inbox shows that everyone with something to sell is offering coronavirus advice. We don’t do bandwagon-jumping here at Excellimore so we’ll keep our blog posts and emails to topics we know something about. We hope we can offer useful and practical advice and support.
We intend to offer hints and tips on the tech you need to work well from home. More than ever tech needs to be easy to use and quick to get to grips with. We also need to keep an eye on where work is being saved, who has access, and who can find things after this lockdown is over.
We can’t forget security either. All of a sudden everyone’s on their own to a great extent and we’ll be focusing on keeping everyone safe and secure in this new world of work.
Because everyone’s out of their usual office it’s more important than ever to keep in touch. We’ll have more blog posts and occasional emails to circulate and we look forward to saying hello again shortly.
