2020 was a very strange year, and we’re not out of the woods yet.
First of all we’d like to thank all our clients for your support and understanding in April and May. We became very busy very quickly helping all our client family move out to Working From Home, and we hope that our service to you didn’t suffer as a result.
As the summer settled down it became clear that everyone had different challenges in their business. Some clients were effectively closed for the duration while others carried on almost as before. The main impact for most was that working from two or three offices became working from ten, twenty, fifty, or more than a hundred locations as staff settled into the spare room or kitchen table.
Looking ahead, it seems likely that a return to normal office working won’t be possible for several months. It’s also likely that people won’t want to return to the routine of commuting every day, if at all, so we aim to help you make your next shift from Working From Home (#WFH) towards Flexible Working (#flexwork).
Working From Home happened all in a rush and yet completed surprisingly successfully for most. Flexible Working will take a more considered view of how you can best build and maintain a resilient business while your colleagues are working from any location.
To that end we’ll be speaking to our clients in the New Year to continue conversations around the best options for software and files. In any case we will be making sure that cyber security comes back onto everyone’s agenda now, because a flexible and dispersed workforce doesn’t make it any easier to keep your business secure from the bad guys.
Also in January we’re saying hello to our two new placement students who should have started with us in May 2020. We’ve had to postpone their start date twice when lockdowns and University arrangements changed, so we’re pleased that Daniel and Marcel are finally able to join the Excellimore team.
While the stricter lockdowns continue it’s likely your Helpdesk team will be based in Falkirk, West and East Lothian, Edinburgh City, the Borders, Northumberland, and Belfast. Our phone system covers all options so we don’t anticipate any problems!
We look forward to working with you and keeping everyone safe and healthy in 2021.
