Microsoft Software Price Increase
A preview of impending Microsoft price increases did the rounds a few weeks ago causing consternation as it warned of increases of up to 33.5% in order to align software license costs throughout Europe.
The final price increases were advised more recently and it is some slight relief to see that the increase for Microsoft Open License, which is the best option for most of our customers, is to be 1.7%.
The situation is different for the hosted service suite Microsoft Office 365, which had a price decrease earlier this year. The increase to be applied will be “up to 15%”, which takes the cost roughly back to where it was before the recent reduction.
The price increase will come into effect on 1st July 2012, but please be aware that the probable increase in demand at distributors means that orders should be placed no later than Tuesday 26 June to be sure of getting them onto the system at the old, cheaper, price.
